SFP Fiber Module

The SFP fiber module supports data-rate of 155Mbps and 550 m transmission distance with 50/125 um or 300m with 62.5/125um MMF.

The transceiver consists of two sections: The transmitter section incorporates a VECSEL laser. the receiver section consists of a PIN photodiode integrated with a trans-impedance preamplifier (TIA).

SFP fiber module satisfy class I laser safety requirements. The optical output can be disabled by a TTL logic high-level input of Tx Disable.  Tx Fault indicates that degradation of the laser. Loss of signal (LOS) output indicates the loss of an input optical signal of receiver.

The standard serial ID information compatible with SFP MSA describes the transceiver’s capabilities, standard interfaces, manufacturer and other information. The host equipment can access this information via the 2-wire serial bus. For more information, please refer to SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA)

SFP fiber module is a compact, hot-pluggable optical module transceiver used for both telecommunication and data communications applications. The form factor and electrical interface are specified by a multi-source agreement (MSA) under the auspices of the Small Form Factor Committee. It is a popular industry format jointly developed and supported by many network component vendors.

An SFP interface on networking hardware is a modular (plug-and-play) slot for a variable, media-specific transceiver in order to connect a fiber optic cable or sometimes a copper cable.SFP transceivers exist supporting SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and other communications standards. Due to its smaller size, the SFP has replaced the gigabit interface converter (GBIC) in most applications, and is sometimes referred to as a Mini-GBIC by some vendors, but this name is not officially defined in the MSAs
